The Counselor in Training program at Creative Video Day Camp is designed for youth aged 14-17. The program emphasizes leadership skills, creativity, film mentoring and most importantly fun! By acting as role models for our younger campers, it is our goal that the C.I.T.’s learn new leadership skills and form lasting memories with our younger campers during a two week internship as a Junior Camp Counselor. Under the guidance, and evaluation of an experienced senior counselor The C.I.T will learn about different aspects of camp life including how to work with children and staff, animating groups, planning and executing of games and activities and safety.
At Creative Video Day C.I.T’s also become a filmmakers while working with like-minded teens to form a production crew! This will allow them to develop a multimedia portfolio to enhance the chances of getting into creative arts programs in CEGEP. We celebrate the end of the camp year in style at the Creative Video Film Festival where C.I.T’s are invited to screen their videos for friends and family. Final productions are broadcasted on CCVwebTV – our YouTube channel, which has thousands of subscribers and millions of views! No prior film-making experience is necessary!
Our goal is to have our C.I.T’s finish the program having acquired all the necessary skills to become an effective and talented summer camp counselor like leadership, communication, initiative, responsibility, and teamwork. After the completion of the program, trainees receive a certificate of completion from Coop Collective Vision. This training is considered an asset for many camps when hiring summer staff.
We have a balanced day with fun outdoor activities like daily park or pool visits, so make sure to pack a bathing suit, sunscreen and a towel.
Upon successful completion of the CIT program (including the stage), you will obtain a reference letter for CEGEP and a CIT Certificate.
